The Beeston hire base is 3 hours cruise from Hurleston Junction the gateway to the Llangollen canal and well placed for anybody looking to explore the Llangollen over a week or more.

Where can we start our Llangollen Canal Boat Hire?
We have two hire bases from which you could enjoy a cruise along the beautiful Llangollen canal. Our Chirk base is at the upper end of the canal between Ellesmere and Llangollen. It is ideal for a short break that will take you across the Poncysyllte Aqueduct, Chirk Aqueduct and the Ellesmere and Llangollen.
Alternatively, you can reach the start of the Llangollen Canal in just 4 hours from our base in Beeston, Cheshire on the Shropshire Union Canal. You could take a relaxed week's holiday from here, up to Ellesmere or a more active route to Poncysyllte Aqueduct and onto Llangollen. Of course you can also explore the Llangollen Canal over a week from the opposite direction starting in Chrik.

There are 21 narrow locks on the Llangollen canal including the staircase of 3 at Grindley Brook.

Which canal boat hire routes could we do that include the Llangollen Canal?
With two hire bases at either end of the Llangollen Canal there are a few routes to choose from, however for short-breaks the most popular is the route between Ellesmere and Llangollen which includes the Poncysyllte Aqueduct. Over a week you could explore the Llangollen from Chrik or from Beeston potentially doing a more relaxed hire to Ellesmere.
Are there any ring routes that we can do that include the Llangollen Canal
The Llangollen Canal itself can only be completed on an out-and-back route, however there is the option to combine the four counties ring and the Llangollen canal into a longer 2 or 3 week hire.
